Good Friday and Easter Hair Treatments
Happy Good Friday and Easter,
So I decided to start using the Giovanni line after my experience with Deva Curl if you want to see my Giovanni experience check me out from now on. But today was a whole new story. Decided to try some new things today. I decided to do some treatments on my hair. I started off with and over night purification treatment with Shea Moisture Purification Masque. I detangled and washed that out this morning and did a lightening treatment. In the lightening treatment I used honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, olive oil, and Shea Moisture Volumizing Conditioner. I applied that to wet clean hair and let it set for 2 hours, then rinsed it out. After that treatment I decided to do a Cassia Treatment with Rainbow Neutral Henna that I got from Whole Foods. I added boiling water, lemon juice, and olive oil to the Neutral Henna and let it sit for a bit then applied it to my hair and left it on for an hour. It was the longest hour of my life because the Henna was dripping everywhere. No bueno. I rinsed that out and shampooed my hair and then did a deep conditioning treatment with Giovanni Nutrafix Hair reconstructor. I have a couple of videos on youtube of each process. So we shall see what the final product is later.
Have a happy holiday everyone!!
REVIEW: My week of DevaCurl and the Curly Girl Method
So, I did a trial run of the DevaCurl for a week to see how it compares to my Shea Moisture products. I started the Curly Girl Method a week and a half ago and decided to use the DevaCurl since that is the line of the Loraine Massey, the person who wrote the Curly Girl Book. I used the One Condition (OC), AnGel, Mister Right, Set it Free, Heaven in Hair, and the Styling Cream. 1st time I washed, I used the OC in my hair to co-wash, detangle, and then left it in. I then applied AnGel after to soaking wet hair. I then had whitish green clumps in my hair when it dried. So then I got advice from the DevaCurl facebook page run by the company on how to use their products. They said to rinse out all of the OC and then apply the Styling Cream and the AnGel on wet hair, we on the second wash I did do that. I also did a Deep Condition over night the night before with the Heaven In Hair product. After following their instructions, I still had whitish green clumps in my hair. I used Deva Curl Monday, Wednesday, Thursday(DC), Friday, and Today!!
Conclusion: I still have the whitish green clumps in my hair no matter how or what products I use. Also it takes my hair forever (entire day versus an hour or two with SM) to dry when I use the DevaCurl products. Also when the product finally dries, my hair does not feel moisturized. Tonight I am going back to my Shea Moisture routine. I am going to use the Purification Masque tonight to get this DevaCurl out of my hair. I am going to try to return the DevaCurl back to Ulta and get my money back.
I am so happy to get back to my Shea Moisture products!!
This is my trip to Washington, DC
Two months natural March 2012
One month natural February 2012
Loving my natural hair less than a week after my BC January 2012
Well, I got tired of transitioning. Did an impulse BC in late January 2012
Transitioning still with another sew-in January 2012
Got tired of the hair extensions so I got braids put in for my transition. October 2011
Started transitioning August 2011. Did curly hair sew-ins
Summer 2011 decided on no more creamy crack instead went to try the alternative, Brazilian keratin straightening treatment. Still a chemical that straightens your hair. But realized quickly that this was no fun. Could not even get near the water at the beach. Smh.
Creamy crack February 2011, notice my hair has been pretty much the same length.
Back to the creamy crack, this time sulfate free. 2010
Attempting to get off chemicals, did sew-ins for a year and a half, then ended up perming my hair after I took out the hair extensions
Cut my hair off due to damage, yet still chemically straightening my hair 2008
